Role Description: Director, Technology Advocacy, Cable Europe

Key Details

  • Role Title Director of Technology Advocacy
  • Reporting to Managing Director, Cable Europe
  • Location Brussels

 Role Purpose

  • To secure clear policy with the involvement of members on regulatory issues with a technical dimension
  • To plan lobby campaigns on technical issues To oversee Cable Europe’s involvement in the standardization work To ensure that sufficient information is available to technical experts on policy matters and vice versa
  • To ensure that Cable Europe’s technical and policy strategies are not in conflict
  • To formulate policy to and represent Cable Europe  with key external bodies such as Cable Labs in the USA, ETSI, CENELEC, DVB and the EU.
  • To promote the cable industry through events, speeches, contact with EU institutions
  • To oversee the conference of Cable Congress, acting as a project manager with a view to  develop a relevant and compelling conference program


Candidate requirements




  • Educated to Degree level or compensating work experience in relevant technical area
  • Degree from Business or Policy Related discipline
  • MBA
Specialist knowledge
  • End to end detailed knowledge of the cable industry
  • Experience of  EU policy and regulations and structure
  • Proven experience with standardisation bodies
Industry experience
  • Extensive and proven experience in both the regulatory and regulated sides of the media and communications industries, at least 5 years
  • Familiar with the technologies involved in the pay-TV industry
Other experience
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills including ability to modify style to meet the needs of the audience
  • Fluency in written in spoken English.
  • Familiar with working in an rapidly changing and dynamic environment
    • Good presentation skills
    • Fluency in other EU languages.
