EUROPEX is a not-for-profit association of European power and gas exchanges that represents the interests of the exchange based wholesale markets for electrical energy, gas and environmental markets with regard to developments of the European regulatory framework for wholesale energy trading and provides a discussion platform on a European level.
Europex pursues the following purposes:

  • To promote the role of energy commodities exchanges in Europe;
  • To support the liberalisation of the different European electricity and gas markets;
  • To deal with issue of international trading of electricity and gas, with special emphasis on providing a market solution to the congestion problems;
  • To maintain an active dialogue with the European Union authorities and with other European electricity, gas and environmental related entities such as ENTSO-E, ENTSO-G, ACER, ESMA, EFET, AIB, Eurelectric, etc. and ensure the visibility of Europex in areas of interest of its members;
  • To increase cooperation in areas of common interest between the members and to promote free trade in due respect of European competition law;
  • To assess the need to formulate recommendations regarding market information dissemination and market rules, especially those related to the prohibition of market abuse;
  • As the case may be, to reach all the above purposes with respect to environmental markets, such as e.g. emission trading and Guarantees of Origin.

Practically all European power and gas exchanges are Europex members, totalising 21. The main activities of the Association are performed by the power market, gas market, environmental market- and financial, transparency and integrity of the market- working groups.


The successful candidate will work on a full-time basis at Europex secretariat in Brussels and will be part of a small dynamic team and will report directly to the Secretary General. She/he is expected to manage the back office activities of the secretariat with a high level of independence including administration, support to the working groups (planning activities, reporting) and assure effective communication.


Administration and working group support:

  • Managing administration tasks of the secretariat (all back office related activities, including management of contracts, payment of invoices, filing);
  • Providing organizational support to the working groups, organizing meetings and providing minutes;
  • Producing reports and presentations.


  • Support in drafting press releases, stakeholder announcements, newsletters, regular reports;
  • Update the corporate website and extranet.


  • Completed higher education in a related field, such as in social science or law. A number of years of relevant working experience is plus;
  • Ability to work independently, allowing the Secretary General to dedicate his time to his core responsibilities;
  • Strong drafting skills and excellent command of the English and French languages (written and spoken);
  • Is familiar with budgeting and capable in managing the financial matters;
  • Ability to adjust technical content to different target groups and different type of media;
  • Ability to work within a multinational and multicultural professional environment;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Computer skills of end-users information technology tools, particularly spreadsheet, word processing programs and e-mail at a highly proficient level;
  • General knowledge of the energy sector and/or the functioning of the EU bodies is plus.


Europex offers to the successful candidate a one-year contract, extendable or convertible to a permanent contract and the opportunity to work in an international and multicultural environment with high degree of professionalism.
The compensation will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate.
