ARCHE NOAH is a Seed Savers’ Organisation founded in Austria 25 years ago, committed to the conservation and sustainable use of agricultural crop diversity. Through its Seed Archive and its garden in Schiltern, but also through its research projects, workshops and policy works, ARCHE NOAH strives to conserve forgotten and biodiverse crops and varieties, and bring them back into farmers’ fields and consumers’ plates.
ARCHE NOAH’s Brussels office, located at the heart of the European district, is looking for a Policy and Advocacy Intern to assist its Policy Officer for minimum one day a week and for at least two months (although working times and the duration of the internship can be discussed with the right candidate).
The job will entail research work in active files (such as the Common Agricultural Policy, the EU Biodiversity Strategy, the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing, Patents on Seeds, and the Seeds Marketing legislation… ), as well as the follow up of these dossiers with European institutions (attending or organising events, arranging meetings,…).
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of European law-making and its institutions, with a background in either agronomic or environmental sciences, or alternatively political or legal training, be fluent in English, and show an interest in sustainable agricultural practices.
